Anonymous £170 million EuroMillions win sets a UK record, October 2019
Tuesday 8 October 2019 · EuroMillions
On Tuesday 8 October 2019 a single UK ticket matched 07, 10, 15, 44 and 49, plus Lucky Stars 03 and 12, in the EuroMillions draw. It took the whole jackpot of £170,221,000. No EuroMillions jackpot had rolled over for longer, and the prize had to be won that night.
The win made the ticket-holder the biggest winner in National Lottery history at that point. It beat the £161 million won by Colin and Chris Weir of Largs in July 2011, which had stood as the UK record for eight years.
Camelot, which ran the National Lottery then, said later that month that the claim had been checked and the money paid, nearly three weeks after the draw. The winner chose not to go public, so no age, home town or job was released.
The record lasted until May 2022, when Joe and Jess Thwaite from Gloucester won £184 million. By June 2025 the 2019 prize ranked fifth among UK National Lottery wins.
