Amazon worker wins Set For Life top prize the first time he plays

Monday 29 July 2019 · Set For Life

Dean Weymes, 24, from Peterborough, won the top Set For Life prize in the draw on Monday 29 July 2019. His Lucky Dip, bought online, matched 18, 21, 23, 34 and 39 and Life Ball 3. The prize pays £10,000 a month for 30 years, £3.6 million in all.

It was the first time he had played the game, which his sister Sarah had introduced him to. No other ticket matched every number that night.

He had been working for Amazon's transport team, including shifts and weekends. He had studied screenwriting at university, and he left the job straight away to work towards a career as a script writer. He also said he planned to send much of the money home to Westmeath in Ireland to help his parents, who care round the clock for his autistic younger brother.

He was only the second player to win the prize by matching all five numbers and the Life Ball. The first, in June 2019, chose to stay anonymous.
