Mechanic Neil Trotter wins £107.9 million after telling colleagues he would

Friday 14 March 2014 · EuroMillions

Neil Trotter, 41, from Coulsdon in south London won £107,932,603.20 in the EuroMillions draw on Friday 14 March 2014. He ran his own vehicle repair garage, Chameleon Coachworks, in Mitcham, and had raced cars as a hobby for years. He bought £10 of Lucky Dip lines on his way to work.

He was so sure of a win that, after buying the ticket, he told colleagues he would be a multimillionaire by the same time the next day and would then retire. By his own account, his partner Nicky Ottaway did not believe him at first when he said he had won.

The couple went public at a press conference in Dorking, Surrey on 18 March 2014. He said a new car came first, with a hypercar such as a McLaren on his wish list. He also planned a Range Rover for Nicky, a new home with stables, and a house for his younger sister. Nicky had quit her job as an accounts assistant that morning.

At the time it was the fourth-largest National Lottery win in the UK.
