Tuesday 8 August 2023 · Mega Millions
One ticket matched all six numbers in the Mega Millions drawing on Tuesday 8 August 2023. The jackpot had been advertised at about $1.58 billion, but strong ticket sales pushed the final figure to $1.602 billion. At the time it was the biggest prize in the game's history. The numbers were 13, 19, 20, 32 and 33, with Mega Ball 14.
The winning line was a Quick Pick, bought at the Publix supermarket at 630 Atlantic Boulevard in Neptune Beach, a coastal city just east of Jacksonville. The store was due a $100,000 bonus for selling it.
The ticket was claimed at the Florida Lottery's Tallahassee headquarters on 27 September 2023. Under Florida law, details of winners of $250,000 or more stay private for 90 days after a claim. On 27 December 2023 the lottery said the prize had been claimed through a company, Saltines Holdings, LLC, which took a lump sum of $794,248,882. The person or people behind it were not named.
The Florida Lottery said the run of 32 rollovers from April to August had raised $73.4 million for education in the state.
