Ade Goodchild wins £71 million after more than 24 years at a Hereford factory
Friday 15 March 2019 · EuroMillions
Ade Goodchild, 58, from Hereford matched every number in the EuroMillions draw on Friday 15 March 2019 and won £71,057,439. He had bought the ticket at the Co-op on Ledbury Road in the city. The numbers were 03, 15, 24, 42 and 46, with Lucky Stars 09 and 12.
He had worked shifts at a metal factory in Hereford for more than 24 years and was handing in his notice. When he first looked at the result he thought the prize was £71,000, and only later grasped its real size.
He went public at a Camelot press conference in Great Malvern on 20 March 2019 and said plainly that the money would change his life. His plans included trips to the Grand Canyon and the Pyramids, a new house with a jacuzzi and space for his dogs, and tickets to big sporting events. An only child, he planned to take his parents house-hunting and told them they could stop saving.
Reports at the time put the prize as the UK's 15th biggest lottery win.
