Naul family syndicate wins a record €175.4m EuroMillions jackpot
Tuesday 19 February 2019 · EuroMillions
A large family syndicate from The Naul, a village in north County Dublin, won the €175.4 million EuroMillions jackpot in the draw on Tuesday 19 February 2019. The numbers were 1, 8, 18, 19 and 39, with Lucky Stars 7 and 9.
Their €14 quick pick came from Reilly's Daybreak shop, about 500 metres from the family's home. No Irish National Lottery prize had been bigger at the time. The previous record, €115 million, was won by Dolores McNamara of Limerick in 2005.
One member caught three of the numbers on the news and then checked the rest online. The ticket spent that first night tucked inside an Argos catalogue. Most of the syndicate are retired, and the family has lived in the area for two generations.
They collected the prize privately at the National Lottery offices on 28 February 2019. Their spokesman, Gerry Brown, described them as a very close family and called the win a dream come true. He said they had no plans to leave The Naul.
