Scunthorpe couple win £1m on EuroMillions for the second time in two years
Friday 27 March 2015 · EuroMillions
David and Kathleen Long from Scunthorpe first won £1 million in the EuroMillions Millionaire Raffle on Friday 26 July 2013. Their second £1 million, along with a Jaguar, came in a Mega Friday draw on 27 March 2015, when ten UK codes each won £1 million and a car.
The couple were named on 1 April 2015. They were reported to be the first people to win £1 million twice and go public. Camelot put the odds of the double at more than 283 billion to one.
The first win nearly went unclaimed. David thought the ticket was worth only a few pounds and put it in the bin, then fished it out when he went to buy a newspaper. He had been too ill to work for three years, and lasted three days back at his HGV driving job before retiring. The pair married in 2014 after a 12-year engagement.
Kathleen reminded him afterwards that he had always said he would do it again.
