Jane Park: £1m on her first EuroMillions ticket at 17
2013 · EuroMillions
Jane Park from Edinburgh was 17 when the first EuroMillions ticket she ever bought won £1 million in 2013. Before that she earned £8 an hour as a temporary admin worker and lived with her mum in a small flat. That made her the UK's youngest EuroMillions millionaire.
She went public and spent on holidays and cosmetic procedures. After surgery abroad she developed sepsis and spent a month in hospital. She has said she was stalked and sent death threats, and that people expected her to help when they had money problems, which she found stressful.
In 2017, aged 21, she said she planned to take legal action, arguing 17 was too young for it. She told Camelot the age limit should go up, and the minimum age to play is now 18. In 2019, as Jane Restorick, she told BBC News that £1m was a ridiculous amount to give someone aged 17.
In January 2023 she said she did not regret her spending. Her one regret was making the win so public. She said she wished she had never won and would not wish it on anyone.
